About Samsung

Samsung is a South Korean company that was founded in 1938 and since the 1990s, mobile phone sales have become the companies most important source of income. In 2012, Samsung became the world’s biggest mobile phone maker, overtaking Nokia.

Samsung has hit the headlines in the past for many reasons, including when it created the first liquid-crystal display in 1995 and through patent infringements and disputes with its fiercest rival Apple. In total, Samsung has been granted more US patents than any other company.

Most recently Samsung has been creating the Galaxy S series of phones with the most noteworthy of these beginning with the Samsung Galaxy S4 and running through to the recently release Samsung Galaxy S7. Samsung innovations include the Edge series of smartphones that have a curved display and the Note series of smartphones that have large phablet-sized displays and the S Pen Stylus.

Samsung phones typically run on Google’s Android operating system and this is complimented by Samsung designed apps, such as S Health. In January 2016, Samsung announced that it will be working with Microsoft to develop new Windows 10 devices.
