MWC this week has given us the opportunity to try and get our paws around the hulking new Huawei Ascend Mate tablet. Revealed in January at CES in Las Vegas, Huawei claim that the Ascend Mate’s 6.1-inch screen makes it the biggest mobile phone on the market.
We were impressed with the phablet’s multi-tasking capabilities and got a hands-on demo with one of Huawei’s team.
Sitting on the top of the screen is a multi-tasking wheel, which allows you to open up selected applications, which you can run concurrently with others. This means that you can watch a movie while typing out a text message, for example. The size of the screen makes the multi-tasking dial easy to access without it dominating the view and is a really neat feature.
As well as the Super IPS+ LCD 6.1-inch touchscreen with a resolution of 1280 x 720 and 241ppi, specs include an impressive 1.5GHz processor with 2GB of ram, an 8-megapixel camera and weighs in just shy of 200 grams.
The Ascend Mate is available in China and will hit UK shores in March and Mobilephones.com will have all of the leading mobile phone deals from all the networks and retailers.
