Smartphones have been getting bigger and bigger with screen sizes on the increase and the lines between a tablet and smartphone becoming ever more blurred. Samsung kicked off the trend in a big way with the Samsung Galaxy Note and the Note 3 is expected later this year to carry on the line, but it looks like the Korean manufacturer won't be stopping there.
Rumours of some even bigger handsets have surfaced and with names like the Galaxy Mega 6.3 and Galaxy Mega 5.8 the smartphone is set to go supersized.
The specifications on the phones only seem to set them in the middle of the road so it will be the screen size which Samsung hopes to win over users. The Galaxy Mega 5.8 will be a dual-SIM smartphone with a 960x540 resolution 5.8-inch display and Android Jelly Bean on board. There will be a dual-core 1.4GHz processor and 1.5GB RAM under the hood and there will be an 8-megapixel rear camera along with a 2-megapixel front facing camera for video chats.
As the name suggests there will be a 6.3-inch display on the Galaxy Mega 6.3 and this device will also have a dual-core processor, 8-megapixel camera and 2-megapixel front facing snapper.
When comparing the specifications to the likes of the Samsung Galaxy S4 these phones are no game changers but if you really do struggle on that 5-inch display on your phone then a Mega phone could be where you are heading. Now I carry a handbag that holds everything and could easily fit the kitchen sink in there so a Galaxy Mega will be no issue but for those that like to pocket their mobile phones there could be some seam splitting embarrassing moments with these handsets.
