Although it was said that the 5.7-inch Samsung Galaxy Note 4 can fit into your pocket (I don’t know how big Samsung’s pockets are) here we take a realistic look at mobile phones that you could really slip into your pocket, without needing a set of pliers to pull it out again…
The qualities that make up a good smartphone that fit into your pocket are simple: they must be of a relatively small size, have smooth, rounded edges, and be able to compete with the latest models on the market. We’re not asking for much, are we?
The Huawei Nova is an excellent example of a smartphone that will fit into your pocket. At 141 x 69 x 7.1 mm and weighing 146g, this Huawei phone promises a touch of premium.
These premium characteristics begin with the use of aviation-strength magnesium and aluminium alloy. It continues with a 3D fingerprint sensor and 12MP camera.
The Huawei Nova has a 5” Full HD IPS display, giving this phone the best resolution in our small phones list. The largest battery is also on offer with a 3,020mAh capacity.

The iPhone has always been a small phone in comparison to other flagship phones and this rings true with Apple’s latest, the iPhone 7. Sized at 138 x 67 x 6.7 mm and weighing 138g, this iPhone is perfect for the pocket.
The 4.7” display has HD resolution and underneath this sits the Touch ID fingerprint sensor. This iPhone is Apple’s first to have IP67 splash, water and dust resistance.
The 12MP camera works extremely well and while the battery capacity of 1,960mAh is nothing amazing, Apple gets the most out of this, offering longer usage times compared to other phones with larger batteries.

The Samsung Galaxy A3 2016 is Samsung’s small phone and this has dimensions of 135 x 65 x 7.3 mm and weighs in at 132g. The 4.7” HD display uses Super AMOLED technology, making it one of the brightest and most vivid.
The Galaxy A3 2016 offers a fusion of robust Gorilla Glass and premium-feel metal. The camera hits the mark at 13MP and the battery does too, with a 2,300mAh capacity.

The LG K4 is the budget option for those seeking a pocket friendly phone. The dimensions of 132 x 67 x 8.9 mm are close to the smallest in this list and at 120g, this is the lightest of all smartphones.
The 4.5” display is the smallest and thus it doesn’t have HD resolution. The cost of choosing a budget phone further hampers the spec with a 5MP camera and low capacity 1,940mAh battery.

Just like last year, Sony wins the compact race, this time with the Sony Xperia X Compact. This incredible smartphone is sized at just 129 x 65 x 9.5 mm and weighs only 135g.
The 4.6” HD display is protected behind Corning Gorilla Glass and this small Sony phone runs on Google’s latest Android Nougat operating system. Biometric security protects the phone through a fingerprint sensor and the battery is high capacity at 2,700mAh.
The Sony Xperia X Compact is also the phone of choice for novice photographers. The 23MP camera enables the capturing of more pixels than any other small phone in this list.

Looking for a cheap deal on a small smartphone? Check out last year’s smallest phones, which now have falling prices:
5. HTC One M9
The HTC One M9 has a body that curves softly from the edges and onto the back. The dual-tone metallic body projects that image of quality and there are pocket pleasing dimensions of 145 x 70 x 9.6mm.
Corning Gorilla Glass 4 protects the 5” display from damage and the forward facing stereo speakers with Dolby Audio 5.1 surround sound give one of the best experiences for music lovers. The combination of 20MP/4MP cameras is also one of the best and only beaten in this list by the best phone that fits in your pocket.
4. Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge
The Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge has the biggest display (5.1”) of the phones that fit in your pocket, yet its dimensions are not the largest (142 x 70 x 7mm). Premium materials have been used in the build and include a glass face and super-thin frame.
The Edge display is the standout feature, putting notifications and other info in a place that doesn’t interfere with what is happening on the main screen. A good 16MP/5MP camera pairing is also included.
3. LG G4C
The LG G4C has a nicely curved back and dimensions of 140 x 70 x 10.2mm. The rear-mounted one watt speaker thumps out the beats of your choosing and the 5” display really makes the most out of features like Smart Notice, which delivers lifestyle suggestions based upon the users behaviour and daily schedule.
2. Apple iPhone 6s
The Apple iPhone 6s shows its true qualities within this list and it has possibly the smoothest and most rounded form of all smartphones. Made from aerospace-grade aluminium, the dimensions of 138 x 67 x 7.1mm are just about perfect and the iPhone 6s is very light at 138g.
The 4.7” display has gone through a dual-ion exchange process to harden it on a molecular level and it features Apple’s latest innovation; 3D Touch with Peek and Pop. This feature senses the amount of pressure being applied and either previews or opens the selected item. The best camera from Apple is also included with a 12MP/5MP pairing.
1. Sony Xperia Z5 Compact
The Sony Xperia Z5 Compact may be the least curvaceous of the best phones that fit into your pocket but it is by far the most compact and lightest of the bunch (127 x 65 x 8.9mm / 127g). This small phone really has a great look about it with precision debossing on the frame and a frosted glass back.
Water and dust resistant, the Xperia Z5 Compact has a 4.6” high-contrast display and Hi-Res Audio with S-Force Front Surround sound. The Lifelog life-tracking app handles anything and everything to do with fitness and the very best camera of the bunch if featured with a 23MP/5MP combination.
There should be no doubt that the Sony Xperia Z5 Compact is the best phone that fits into your pocket.
